Expansion of Nasal Naloxone

On February 19, the Ministry of Health announced that nasal naloxone access will expand to the BCCDC's Take Home Naloxone program starting April 2026. 

This is an expansion of the nasal Take Home Naloxone pilot project that was initiated in 2024.

Community-based sites that participated in the nasal THN pilot will be contacted directly by the BCCDC about replenishing inventory.  

Expansion to all registered THN distribution sites will begin in late April, using a phased approach in collaboration with regional health authorities. 

The BCCDC will provide further updates to participating THN sites by email when more information is available. Updates will also be posted to https://towardtheheart.com/thn-sites 

Intramuscular (injectable) naloxone continues to be offered through the Take Home Naloxone and Facility Overdose Response Box Programs.
